Bin Laden: An Analysis

Linked in the title is a press release about a new book on Bin Laden.

You might be surprised to hear that I am glad to see Bin Laden's combined speeches and writings put into a text for study. My reason is simple: Bin Laden is the enemy, and it is wise to know him. By knowing Bin Laden, we can hope to grasp an understanding of those like him.

Understanding your enemy is the key to defeating him. Sun Tzu said more along the lines of "understanding self and understanding enemy" so it might be more accurate to say this book is half of the equation.
